Haut-lieu, a high place.
In French, a haut-lieu is a high place; a place that matters. The world's finest coffees are grown high, too. That's where our name comes from.
But elevation is only a beginning. What we look for is exceptional coffee: fully traceable, bought direct from the people who grow it, and shaped by its terroir, the place it comes from. We follow that wherever it leads, altitude or not.
Our home will be the Bozel valley in the Tarentaise, beneath Le Le Grand Bec, the peak that rises more than 2,600 metres above the valley floor. We're starting small and deliberately, and taking the time to do it properly.
